Rootless earns a commission on some links — at no cost to you. What this means: when you click an affiliate link to a retailer (Amazon, Hydrobuilder, and similar) and complete a purchase, the retailer pays us a small percentage of the sale. The price you pay does not change. How this influences editorial: it does not. We rank, include, and exclude products on the basis of independent testing and verified third-party reviews. Items we cannot recommend do not appear on the site even when an affiliate program exists for them. Negative coverage is not removed because of an affiliate relationship. Where disclosure appears: every page that contains affiliate links carries the disclosure above the links, in body-text size, with a link back to this page. All affiliate links use rel="sponsored nofollow" so they are not counted as endorsements by search engines. Programs we currently participate in: Amazon Associates (US), and direct retailer programs for hydroponic specialists (full list available on request). Compliance: this policy is written to satisfy the FTC's "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising" (16 CFR Part 255), the UK ASA's CAP Code, and the EU's Unfair Commercial Practices Directive.
